April News from the Camp Chi Family!

By Camp Chi
News from the Chi Family

This has certainly been an April like no other. But despite most of the world being homebound, we still have plenty of reasons to be happy and celebrate the Camp Chi Family. So join us in wishing a hearty mazel tov to everyone named below in this month’s News from the Camp Chi Family. And if you have news to contribute, please submit it here.

We are very proud of Jack Peretz and Aaron Wasilew on their recent bar mitzvahs. We heard you both did wonderfully.

It’s been a busy month for college decisions, and we have quite a few exciting announcements. Congratulations are in order for Sammi Krakow (DePaul University), Celia Giles and Nate Kurson (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Mara Lippman (University of Connecticut), Libby Kerensky (Grinnell College), Leo Mondschain (Ohio University), Jessie Cooper (University of Southern California), Daniel Mesirow (University of Iowa), Spencer Sher (The New School), Kimberlee Holman, Sarah Lowenthal, and Joe Preston (Ohio State University), Max Kaufman (Indiana university), Rory Nutkevitch (Butler University), Gabi Siegel (University of California, Los Angeles), Abbey Finn, Gabi Shakhman, Roy Steinberg, Hailey Cooper, and Grace Kelly (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Shayna Holman (University of Kansas), Hayden Grijnsztein (University of Michigan), Lee Graff (Harper College), Benny Liber, Max Liber and Kylie Whitehead (Miami University of Ohio), and Jarret Fersten (University of Florida).

Meanwhile Scott Harris, who is already a student at the University of Kansas, was recently accepted into the school of education, majoring in physical and health education. Congrats Scotty!

Wedding bells were ringing as Eli Bass married Ali Brodsky. We wish you a lifetime of happiness!

We are very proud of Jacklyn Gelman Brandt, who was named assistant principal at Indian Trail Middle School. Congratulations Jackie!

Camp Chi is well represented on the newly elected BBYO Great Midwest Region’s new regional board. We are so proud of Grant Katzenstein (Godol), Zach Parks (Mazkir), Blake Finkel (Shaliach), and Rachel Krzesinski (Sh’licha). We are proud of each and everyone one of you!

There are some future Chi campers out there as Lisa (Sheridan) and Alex Tarshis and Apolonia “Apple” and Jason Speropulos welcomed little bundles of joy recently. We cannot wait to meet them soon!

And Helen Cullen and her fiancé Hugh are expecting their own bundle of joy in just a few months. Mazel tov to both of you!

And while we have so many soon to be college freshmen (above), we also have many members of the Camp Chi Family who are continuing with their studies as well. We are very proud of Karin Eig (Northwestern University, Speech Pathology), James Franks (Arizona State University, Sports Journalism), Dani Bleichman (Rosalind Franklin University, Doctor of Physical Therapy), Mel Racenstein (New Mexico State University, Burell College of Osteopathic Medicine), Max Shapiro (Washington University in St. Louis, Law), and Sarah Glaser (University of Kansas, Accelerated MA Speech Pathology).

Have news to share? We want to hear all about it, so be sure to submit it here.
