Chi: It’s a Family Thing – Preston Family
When I went to the bus to see my son and nephew off for first session this year, all our family members that went to Camp Chi took this picture (see above!). There was more going on this year than when my kids traditionally leave for 4 weeks of second session. 1. This is Joe’s SIT summer. 2. It’s Preston’s (my nephew) first time going to overnight camp. 3. I did not cry! (I cry watching commercials and CBS Sunday Morning)
Joe is the first of our family to be a SIT. So odd since you can see how many of us have gone to Camp Chi. He was on the fence about going back this summer, but we know it will be the one he will never forget! The friendships he has made mean so much to him. It makes me so happy to have been able to send him to Camp Chi and give him such positive experiences!
So, when it was Preston’s time to go to overnight camp, his cousins couldn’t say enough great things. Now there’s a sense of responsibility that his experience this summer lives up to all the hype. It’s been awhile since we had a first-time camper! Gushing letters (yes, he sent us letters when our own child did not J) and smiling photos let us know he is enjoying himself, thank goodness!
Now that more of our family has joined the Camp Chi family, I am even more thankful for the opportunity that our kids share the experience of camp and that it brings us all even closer. Can’t cry now, so I’ll quit while I’m ahead!
