Meet the Health Center
At Chi, our campers’ health and safety is our top priority. Sometimes at camp, people can get sick or hurt and we want to be prepared for these occasions. When these instances occur, we call upon our Health Center which is filled with a group of trained individuals.
We are so excited to announce Jenny Silva will be returning again this summer and will be Camp Chi’s Nursing Manager. Jenny has been, and will continue to work with, camp throughout the year on health center procedures and protocols. Jenny attended the ACN (Association of Camp Nursing) conference this past February. She learned with camp nursing professionals from around the country on best practices, as well as ways to make Chi a healthier camp community. Jenny will also be our Lead Nurse 1st session.
The good news keeps coming – Lora Kellie is returning as the 2nd session Lead Nurse this summer! Plenty of returners will be joining her and Jenny as nurses as we are happy to bring back Apple Speropulos, Maria Rayson, Genesis Valenzuela, Trish Baltazar, Jamie Thompson, Katie Pettibone, Kris Sabel, Helen Mae Larkin, Amber Hoogheem, Dawn Carnahan, Lisa Garland, Gabrielle Duboff and Myriam Lallemand.
But wait, it gets better! We are thrilled to welcome some first timers to the health center too. A warm welcome to nurses Lisa Oliver and Kelli McDonald, and health aids Hannah Gross, Elizabeth Pancratz, Layla Schmidt and Amanda Guzman. The health aids have a key role in ensuring the health center runs smoothly. Most health aids are studying to be nurses, and some have even gone on to return to Chi as nurses after completing their studies.
Rounding off our team will be a group of doctors that will rotate throughout the summer. There is a doctor present every day to ensure the health of our campers is maintained.
As you should already know, we are working with Camp Scripts to be the exclusive pharmacy for Camp Chi, providing all camper medications in pre-packaged packets sorted by day and medication time. This allows our nurses and doctors to focus on providing the absolute best care to our campers, instead of packaging medications day after day.
Our campers’ health is very important and is taken very seriously at Chi. Our trained staff is very attentive to our campers’ needs and ensures their health problems are taken care of. Although we hope our campers do not need to go into the Health Center, we hope they know they can go whenever they are not feeling well, and they will receive the absolute best care.
