News from the Camp Chi Family: September 2020 Edition

By Camp Chi
News from the Chi Family

Suddenly summer has come and gone and we are now entering fall. Despite not having camp, we have so much to celebrate. With new babies, weddings, engagements, b’nai mitzvot and so much more, the Camp Chi Family has continued to provide a bright spot for us in these bleak time. As always, if you have news to contribute, please submit it here.

After graduating in the spring from Florida State University, Vicki Zilbergleyt is continuing her studies as she works towards her Masters in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Florida. Keep up the hard work Vicki!

Speaking of big accomplishments after graduation, we are so incredibly proud of Larry Bender for his new role as the Operations Coordinator at Metro Chicago Hillel. This is surely a great start to a long and successful career. Way to go Larry!

We were thrilled when our friends at Keshet named Jen Phillips as their CEO. Jen, a SIT of 1989, has been an instrumental player in our partnership with Keshet, including serving as our Inclusion Coordinator for many years. Mazel tov to both Jen and to Keshet! For the full announcement click here.

We’ve got some new drivers in the Camp Chi Family as Emma Preston, Logan Friedman, and Lindsey Neiman all got their driver’s licenses recently. And not to be outdone, Peyton Coslow is on her way to driving as well, as she recently got her learner’s permit. Buckle up and drive safely everyone!

When in doubt, the Camp Chi family can adapt, improvise and overcome. And that’s exactly what these campers and their families did to celebrate their pandemic b’nai mitzvot. Mazel tov to Ethan Hurwitz, Makenzie Brull, Jonathan Pearlman, and Sadie and Tess O’Connor on their recent b’nai mitzvot!

It was a summer filled with love as we saw a ton of engagements. We are so excited for Becca Gillett (SIT ‘07, ‘12), Hannah Waldman (SIT ’09), Lana Rubinstein, and Zach Auerbach (SIT ’10) and Rachel Blitt.

Ready for a dose of cuteness? We’ve got some adorable new Chi babies as Alyssa (Poteshman) and Matt Shamis welcomed Jacob Lev, and Andy Stacey and Rebecca Ur welcomed Calvin Arthur. We are happy to say that everyone is happy and healthy. Once it is safe to do so, we can’t wait to meet these little ones!

These couples got married recently and we wish them nothing but a lifetime of happiness and love.  Mazel tov to Anna Browar and Alex Cohn, Tamas and Szandra Botrágyi, and our own Kyle Kolling and Natalie Kozelka (pictured above).

Have news to share? We want to hear all about it, so be sure to submit it here.
