Spotlight on Camp Chi
This summer we made a huge change to benefit the environment. Instead of using paper plates and plastic utensils when we ate outside, we used actual dishes and silverware. We were able to make this important step towards protecting the earth thanks to a grant from The Gendler Grapevine Project. The Gendler Grapevine provided us with the funds necessary to purchase additional dishes, cups, silverware and mugs.
As part of this project, our Cornerstone Fellows led a special Saturday morning program on bal tashchit, the value of “do not waste” or “do not destroy”. Campers participated in a game to challenge them to creatively solve environmental problems that we face at camp and throughout the world.
The Gendler Grapevine Blog is highlighting our project as a great example of how camps can go green. We hope that this project inspires other camps to make similar changes. We also hope that it inspires you to do the same thing with your family. Check out what they have to say about our efforts by clicking on the image below. There’s more information about our project on their website here.
