Camp

The Camp Chi full time team is whole again, and we can’t wait for an amazing summer 2023. Because we have a few new faces and some shuffling of roles and responsibilities, we wanted to introduce the team once again and explain a little bit about how you might interact with us this summer! To email anyone on the full-time team, just use their first initial and last name @jccchicago.org, or for general inquiries, please contact info@campchi.com.

Jon Levin – Director
After many years at camps around the Country, Jon returned to Camp Chi in 2018, becoming Director in 2020. He has been working in Jewish camping for over 30 years, with over 20 of those years as a Camp Director. Jon directly oversees health services, food service, and all of Camp Chi’s facilities.

Kyle Kolling – Associate Director
Kyle has spent every summer at Camp Chi since 2001. Beginning as a young two-week camper he worked his way up to a full-time role at the beginning of 2015 and now serves as the Associate Director of Camp Chi. Kyle oversees all camper and staff related day to day operations of camp.

Samantha Isenstein – Assistant Director
Sam has spent many of her summers at Camp Chi as a camper, SIT and held various positions at Chi including counselor, PNW trip leader and village supervisor. This summer she is overseeing the Mini Sessions (Two-week villages) and Chalutzim (7th Grade)!

Natalie Kolling – Business Manager
Natalie Kolling has always had a passion for working at camp. In fact, she spent 6 years working at a day camp before she joined the Chi team in 2017. Natalie oversees a lot of the behind the scenes of camp, if you call the main Chi line, you may also reach Natalie!

Jennifer Mccarrel, Admin Manager
Jennifer is our Administration Manager at Camp Chi and joined the Camp Chi team in 2023. She will be working with Natalie and overseeing the year-round registration process and our camp technology needs. If you call Camp Chi it will likely be Jennifer answering the phone and helping with any needs, or making sure you get to the right person!

Jared London, Program Coordinator
Jared, more commonly known as J-Lo around camp, has spent almost two decades at Chi as a camper, SIT of 14, counselor and village leader. This summer Jared will be overseeing Habo (8th grade) and Noar (9th and 10th grade). If you have any questions about those programs, reach out to Jared!

Ely London, Community Care Coordinator
Camp Chi has been Ely London’s home for 12 summers as camper, she was a SIT of 2016, and staff ever since! Ely will be overseeing Shoreshim (4th and 5th grades) and Tsofim (6th grade). She also works with new campers on how we can best support them. If you’re a new camper and would like to get on the buddy list to make a new friend before your first summer at camp, please reach out to Ely!

Jonno Appel, Outdoor Adventure Coordinator
Jonno has spent his career developing and facilitating experiences that help folks grow by stepping out of their comfort zones in safe and supported ways. He’s guided, planned, and managed logistics for over 75 multi-day group adventure tours in 8 different countries. This summer he will be leading our Outpost Village Program (6-8th grade) and our Pacific Northwest Adventure Trip (10th grade). If you have any questions about either of these programs, please reach out to Jonno!

Jessie Lankford, Logistics Manager
Jessie has spent the last 15 years at Camp Chi in a variety of roles including camper, counselor, village leader, and most recently programming director. Jessie is the engine that makes Camp Chi’s schedule run, manages all transportation, and makes sure that our standards stay high with our American Camp Association Accreditation.
