Camp Chi Hanukkah Toy Drive: Toys for Tots
We’ve all walked into a store in October or November and seen holiday merchandise. Before we even get to celebrate Thanksgiving or Halloween, we’re confronted with the December Holiday Season. You might think it’s crazy to think about the holidays this early, but all of a sudden it’s everywhere you look. We have a bit of an antidote to this “Holiday Creep”, and a good reason to start thinking about the holidays early.
Our annual Hanukkah Toy Drive: Benefitting Toys for Tots is up and running! Although presents may seem like a natural part of the Holiday Season for many of us, this isn’t necessarily the case for everyone. Toys for Tots is a wonderful charity that provides presents to less fortunate children around the holidays. We think it’s a great concept, and the Camp Chi Family seems to agree. Last year, we had so many donations that we ran out of space to store all the gifts (just look at the photo above!)
This year, you can drop off your donations at the Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook, the Florence G. Heller JCC in Lakeview, or at the Jacob Duman Early Childhood Center at Lake County JCC. There are giant boxes wrapped in Hanukkah wrapping paper where you can put your donations. We can only accept new and unwrapped toys and books, and donations will be accepted through December 15th.
As long as we’re talking about Hanukkah already, mark your calendars for Camp Chi’s 4th Night Hanukkah Party on December 21st! You can join us at the Bernard Weinger JCC and enjoy cookie decorating, s’mores over a campfire, and activities with all your camp friends. We’ll be releasing more information as the date gets closer.
Last year the Camp Chi Family showed how generous they were, and we know that this year is going to be the same! Happy (very early) Hanukkah!
