Chi Did Good

Chi Does Good

The generosity and togetherness of the Camp Chi Family have always amazed us!  You do such a wonderful job illustrating the values of Community (Kehilah), Kindness (Kavod) and Respect (Chesed) that we see every day at camp, all year long . When we announced the Camp Chi Toy Drive Benefitting Toys for Tots, we had no doubt that the Camp Chi Family would come through. Yet as always, we are overwhelmed by your desire to do good and the turnout we received.

In less than a month, we received a staggering collection of hundreds of toys. We had to empty the donation bins multiple times so we could have room for the influx of toys that you continued to bring. By the end, we had almost 300 toys stacked in an impressive tower in our offices (yes, we did make a tower made out of toys, and yes it was awesome). When we dropped off the donations at Toys for Tots, their staff were incredibly impressed by the amount of donations we received.

This time of year, it is very easy to get caught up in the busyness of the season, but you were able to pause and think of those in need. We cannot thank the Camp Chi Family enough! But we could not do it alone. We partnered with other departments of JCC Chicago to achieve this and cannot thank the the Florence Heller, Jacob Duman, and Bernard Weinger Early Childhood Centers, as well as JCC Family Programming for their amazing contributions. Because of everyone’s kind heartedness, so many children in need will receive holiday gifts this year. Just thinking about the smiles when they open their presents is enough to warm us up on these cold December days.

One more thank you to everyone. As we turn the calendar to 2022 in just a few short weeks, we can’t wait to see all the good that the Camp Chi Family will continue to do!
