Chi Team Update
We have news that brings with it some mixed emotions. Rachael Finkel has been named Manager, Development Operations here at JCC Chicago. We are so excited for Rachael and the J to have this perfect opportunity, yet we are incredibly sad. Rachael has spent more than 25 summers at Chi, and 20 as a member of the full-time staff. She started as Registrar for Camp Chi, then served as Perlstein Business Manager and Resident Camp Business Manager before becoming Manager of Administration. She has worn many hats over the years, including camp mom and wife, and has excelled in all of them. Her move to the Financial Resource Development (FRD) team is a perfect fit for the agency, as Rachael brings unparalleled knowledge and experience of the Camp Chi community as we celebrate Chi’s 100th birthday in 2021.
Rachael has asked that we share her letter (below) with the entire Camp Chi Family. In the coming weeks and months, we will begin a search to fill Rachael’s position. In the meantime, the rest of the Chi team will cover all responsibilities and we know that Rachael is available for guidance and assistance.

Camp Chi Team
Dear Chi Family,
I am very excited to be making a move within the JCC to the FRD team as the Manager of Development Operations. In this new role I will be working with the rest of the FRD team to engage with our stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy across the whole agency. I am most excited to be involved with coordinating events in celebration of Camp Chi’s 100th birthday! These activities keep me close to Camp Chi, my home away from home!
Camp Chi has been part of my life since 1995, and it will always be home for me and my family. I have worked full time for Chi since 2000 and have loved being part of the Chi team. It is bittersweet that I will be leaving the Camp Chi team, but I am staying close and will be sure to help in the transition.
The Camp Chi Family means so much to me. To everyone I have worked with and created special relationships with over the years, please don’t be a stranger! My email is the same…drop me a note anytime. Hoping to see you soon at a JCC or Chi Centennial event, or just around town!
