Cornerstones of Camp: Our 2018 Cornerstone Fellows

A cornerstone is the basic building block of a strong foundation. At camp our cornerstone is our staff. Many of our counselors have grown up at Chi, have spent their camper years looking up to their counselors and now have the opportunity to inspire the next generation. Our counselors make the cabin feel like a home and help the campers go from a group to a family. Our staff are the cornerstone of our camp community.
Some of our returning counselors are fortunate to be apart of a fellowship that gives them additional tools, resources and opportunities to explore Jewish values at camp and enhance programming while providing a platform for self-growth and learning – The Cornerstone Fellowship. This program is designed to help returning 3rd year counselors become leaders at camp. Cornerstone Fellows attend a 5-day professional seminar before camp that includes Jewish framed sessions that will allow the counselors to step up and make a Jewish impact at camp.
We are thrilled to introduce our 2018 Cornerstone Fellows: Alex Arbit, Anna Ramirez, Ben Lipka, Graham Silverman and Jacklyn Schur! These fellows will be working hard over the coming days to formulate programs that meet the Jewish vision of camp and will be implementing programs, both for campers and for staff, this summer that will provide another Jewish touch point in our camp community.
We are proud of all our staff, but in particular these fellows for demonstrating commitment and passion for Jewish life, both at camp and outside of camp, and are happy to help them develop new skills as young adults. We are looking forward to the new programs and exciting initiatives they will bring to camp this summer and how they and their peers will help develop camp’s Jewish vision in the years to come!
