News from the Chi Family

Despite being far from summer, this time of year is always busy for Camp Chi. We just loved recently seeing everyone at our Hanukkah events, just wrapped up our hugely successful Toy Drive, are preparing for Winter Camp, and are in the midst of hiring staff for the summer. But the end of the calendar year has been busy for more than just us. We are beaming with pride at the number of incredible things we’ve seen coming out of the Camp Chi Family recently. Seems like we’re not alone in keeping busy, so without further ado, here is the December News from the Chi Family!

Have news we can share and celebrate together? Submit it here

The Camp Chi Family has been doing a ton of awesome work and earning accomplishments at college campuses across the country and around the world:

Abbey Finn was recently named the next present of the AEPhi executive board at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Becca Gadiel was selected as Knox College’s 2021-2022 Lincoln Academy Student Laureate, an honor awarded each year to one outstanding senior from every college/university in Illinois. Congrats Becca!

Grant Katzenstein was selected as the Assistant Director of Hillel Relations with the Jewish Student Union at the University of Florida.

You may see a familiar face on the news in Missouri as Ethan Absler is working at the Mizzou NBC Komi News Station, covering a range of events and topics.

Katie Stein recently became the Vice President of Events and Programming on Kappa Delta’s Gamma Nu Chapter Governing Council.

And to wrap up our collegiate news, camp photographer extraordinaire Max Feehan recently graduated with a BA in Photographic Media. Great work to everyone across all campuses!

As always, we are delighted to give marriage updates from the Chi Family. Katie Lightner, our Keshet Site Director for the past 13 years, and Ronald Brock recently tied the knot, as did Eli Brook & Taylor Litman, and Kasey Gallagher & Marcus Kuiper. There is also a wedding on the horizon as Juliet Williamson & Peter Hendrie became engaged. Mazel Tov to all the happy couples!

We’ve also had some B’nai Mitzvot in our community and heard that both Morgan Delevitt and Talia Madorsky each did a great job on the bimah!

Rachel Luban was named as a Jewish Star Top 20 through the Jewish Star Academy, which is helping Jewish Stars take their talent and passion to the next level of Jewish leadership. Congrats Rachel! You can learn more on the Jewish Rock Radio Facebook Page.

We have two familiar faces participating in JCC Chicago’s Seed 613 Fellowship, a social innovation and entrepreneurship program for Female-identifying Jewish teens. We are so proud of Mia Pinto & Grace Rosenberg and cannot wait to see and hear more about their projects.

And finally, Jenna (Goffman) & Josh Sorin and her husband recently welcomed Leo Nathan Sorin. We can’t wait to meet the little guy and for him to be part of Camp Chi in the future. Mazel tov!

Have news to share? We want to hear all about it, so be sure to submit it here.
