It’s Teri Time!
Throughout the last 36 years many faces have come and gone from Camp Chi, but one has remained constant. On a hot sunny Camp Chi day there has only been one place to go to get your ice cold slush puppy, your frozen Charleston Chew, and your newest Camp Chi sunglasses; Teri’s Canteen. Teri Chamlin has been the glue that held Camp Chi together by giving people that sugar rush that’s needed when the busy camp schedule is tiring you out. To thank Teri for the amazing memories and commitment that she has given, and continues to give, to the Camp Chi community we are hoping to build her a brand new Canteen for Summer 2024. We are going away from the 50 year old wood box with no storage and very little A/C, and hope to replace it with a beautiful, modern Canteen that even the Walmart down the street from camp will be jealous of!
Teri will no longer have to haul heavy boxes from storage into the Canteen, nor will campers have to wait in the hot sun while weighing their decision of M&Ms or Sour Patch Kids. This new building will be an all in one oasis to the benefit of everyone in camp. Last week, we kicked off this amazing campaign with A Toast To Teri, in which over 70 Chi alumni and their families celebrated Teri. It was so great to see so many amazing alumni from the last 40 years and to see Teri get the recognition that she deserves. Over the next year we will be doing a host of other events and campaigns to raise money for this amazing Camp Chi cause, so if Teri and the Canteen had a positive impact on your Camp Chi experience, watch out, more information is coming soon!
