January News from the Chi Family!
A new year brings more celebrations, accomplishments, and simchot for the Camp Chi Family. Between college acceptances, trips to Israel and b’nai mitzvot, we’ve filled the first month of the new year with some great vibes already. Let’s make 2019 a year overflowing with good news and celebrations!
There’s no better way to ring in the new year than with camp friends, right? Well Scott Schwartz, Ethan Smith, Bryan Schmidt, Becky Gurson, Annie Echales, Jackie Shaps, Emily Rodheim, Abby Simon, Jamie Horwitz, Alexa Winestock, Alec Weingart, Aaron Applebaum and Danny “Biscuit” Jutovsky certainly agree as they snapped the above photo for us as well. #campfriendsarethebestfriends
The new year brought in wedding bells for Michael Wolf, of WOLFoods. Mazel tov to Mike and his wife, Rachel! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.
Congrats are in order for Michael Miller. Michael was recently promoted to Account Executive at Paragon Marketing Group. From a camper, to SIT, counselor, and village leader, we know the sky is the limit for you, Michael!
Mazel tov to Josh and Julian Karp on their recent b’nai mitzvah! We heard you both did great jobs and deserved the great celebration!
We didn’t get a photo, but we had more Chi reunions for new years- all over the globe. Danielle “DP” Poteshman and Becca “Gilletty” Gillett were traveling and met up with Arin Kerstein to celebrate New Year’s in Lisbon.
College acceptances are coming in and we are beaming with pride as Josh Ezrol (Northwestern), Magnus Goldberg & Eli Wright (University of Miami), Ian Ward (Bradley University), Ben “Greenbean” Greenberg (Illinois State University) and Max Himelstein (Indiana University Bloomington) make their plans for the fall.
While many Americans are finalizing their college plans, Bethan Tootill is celebrating her graduation from the University of Leeds. Way to go!
Maya Zadik is official in the Israeli Military! We are so proud of you Maya! Stay safe!
We are so proud of Sydney Zuckert who was recently named a student of the month at Century Middle School. Way to go Sydney!
We’ve seen a lot about Brexit on the news recently, but if we were living in the UK, we may have seen a familiar face being interviewed about being a Brexit Inbetweener (people who couldn’t vote on Brexit then, but can vote now). That’s right- Christy Bucklow, one of the camp photographers, was in front of the camera for a change, as she was interviewed on Channel 4.
There were recently some BBYO board elections and we are so proud of the new Aviva BBG and Ometz AZA boards. On the BBG side, Skylar Pazol (schlicha), Julia Fargotstein (Gizborit), Carly Baran (N’Siah), Rachel Krzesinski (Mekasharet) and Lindsey Schur (Madricha) round up the new board, while Grant Katzenstein (Godol), Zach Kutnick (Moreh), Blake Finkel (Shaliach), Blake Lewis (Gizbor), and Jacob Zucker (Mekasher) make up the AZA side. Congratulations to all of you!
Winter break brought a lot of travels to the Camp Chi Family, with many taking the trip to visit Israel. Obviously, we have a strong connection to Israel and want to congratulate Georgia Horn, Jori Wineburgh, Jessie Lankford, Liz Robbin, Julie Friedman, David “Commish” Stern, Jonny Benishay and Jonah Rosenberg for visiting recently. We know whether it is your first visit, or seventeenth, every trip to the holy land is unforgettable.
Have news to share? We want to hear all about it so be sure to submit it here.
