May News from the Chi Family!
With camp just a month away, graduation season is in full swing, along with more college decisions, b’nai mitzvot, and much more. There is no shortage of things to celebrate within the Camp Chi family and we are excited to share these simchot with everyone. Have news for us to share? Submit it here.
With the change of seasons has come a surge of engagements. We are so happy for Tamás Botrágyi and Daniel Horvath on their recent engagements. We wish you and your fiancées all the best!
We posted in the March Edition about Max Himelstein, Max Hurwitz and Misha Rekhter heading to Orlando for the international DECA competition. Well, they went, they saw, and they conquered… or finished in top 10 and deserve a big round of applause. Nice work gentlemen!
We have some more brainiacs at Chi as Celia Giles, Blake Finkel and Grace Kellie were recently inducted into the National Honor’s Society. Way to go!
Ben “Greenbean” Greenberg can be quite the showstopper and did a superb job as Enjorlras in Naperville North’s production of Les Misérables. In fact he was recognized for his talent by getting the outstanding theatre student award. Nice going Greenbean!
Speaking of showstoppers, Ricki Viner was just in the Wizard of Oz at the Children’s Theatre of Winnetka and did a fabulous job.
It’s commitment season and we have a new batch of soon to be college freshman to introduce. We want to wish the best to Josh Friemdan (Syracuse University), Jason Rosenblum (Colorado School of Mines), Shanie Cohn (University of Tampa), Leila Rayond (Lawrence University), Jacob Bayer (University of Michigan), Matthew Warshell (University of Rochester), KJ Jacoby (Elon University), Ben Keller (Miami University), Lily Murphy (Depaul University), and Anthony Petrov (University of Illinois) as they continue their studies.
It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating their college decision and now we are rejoicing with them in celebration of graduating. We are very proud of Joe Kohen (University of North Dakota), Sivan Eliasoff and Mia Weisberg (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and Michael Cera (University of Wisconsin, Madison) on their recent graduations. We can’t wait to see what’s next for all of you.
We are so proud of Jacob Freedman as he will once again be heading to nationals for gymnastics this summer Best of luck, Jacob!
It was a Camp Chi reunion at the Bradley AEPi 70th Anniversary Alumni Weekend as Michael Miller joined James Franks, Reece Weber, and Parker Weber for the celebration. Thanks for the photo gentlemen!
The BBYO end of the year awards were littered with familiar names. Zach Klein was given the outstanding senior award for the GMR region and Elijah Klein received an award for outstanding programming for a fundraiser program he planned. He may not be a Klein, but he certainly has spirit and we are so proud of Zach Brown who won the BBYO Ruach Award, not to be confused with our own havdallah tradition. Congrats to both Zachs and Elijah!
We’ve had a lot of b’nai mitzvot recently and we are glowing with pride. Mazel tov to Sarah Matthews, Alex Cohen, Ruby Schaffer, Sadie Ziegelman, Oliver Rosenheim, and Seth Arnold on their recent b’nai mitzvot. We are so proud of each of you!
When he’s not performing as highlighted earlier, Ben “Greenbean” Greenberg is a great counselor and will be a phenomenal teacher after he gets his training at ISU. Well, others must agree with us as Ben was one of the two students at Naperville North High School to receive the Stuckey Future Educator Scholarship. We’re very proud of you Ben!
