Camp

We are celebrating Israel’s 74th birthday with Yom Haatzmaut, Israeli Independence Day. Israel is a central part of Camp Chi’s identity. It is why The Israeli Village is located in the mercaz, or center, of camp. We have staff who work in the Israeli Village, teaching about Israeli culture. We call these staff our schlichim. But we also have schlichim in many other roles and places in camp. In fact, sometimes it is the interactions with a lifeguard or horseback riding specialists who just happens to be from Israel that leaves a lasting imprint of Israeli culture on our campers.

In addition to their day to day responsibilities, our Schlichim help run programs on Shabbat, set up shuk, and create opportunities to learn about Israel, and hear firsthand about the Jewish homeland.

This year we have 20 schlichim working in more than 10 areas of camp, and we are proud to introduce you to them!
