Mix It Up Monday

As we enter what would have been the first week of camp, we know that many in the Chi family are sad to not be at camp right now. And while we don’t have a magic wand to make your sadness go away, we do have a camp-packed Mix It Up Monday to help you keep the flame burning. Don’t forget to check out the previous Mix It Up Mondays for more activities to keep everyone campy.

Something Tasty: Frozen Lemonade

Looking for a delicious treat to help keep you cool and beat the heat? Look no further than this frozen lemonade!

Ingredients & Supplies:
– 2 medium lemons, peeled, de-seeded, and sliced
– Zest of one lemon
– 1/3 – ½ cup sugar (to taste)
– 1 ½ cups cold water
– 3 cups ice cubes
– Blender

Directions:
1. Add all the ingredients to a blender. Add the sugar a little bit at a time and keep tasting to get to the sweetness level you want.
2. Pulse until blended to your desired consistency (blend longer for a smoother drink, or less for an icy treat).
3. Enjoy!

Something Artsy: No Sew Pillows

Missing the art center’s textiles room? No need to not still be creative while at home. How about making a pillow? It may not be an emoji pillow (a favorite in the art center), but here is an easy tutorial to make your very own pillow; no sewing required. You can follow these directions or watch the video below.

Something Active & Messy: Water Balloon Piñatas

The summer heat is beating down and we’ve all had a stressful few months. Well this activity both keeps you cool and lets you relieve your stress at the same time! Fill the balloons with some paint as well for an added messy twist!

Something Campy: Bring Your Family to Camp!

While we can keep giving you campy activities to do on your own, the best camp activities are done at camp. And while we won’t have traditional camp this summer, we are excited to offer a chance for the whole family to get some Camp Chi Magic with Chi Family Getaway!

Looking for more ways to keep things campy? Check out previous Mix It Up Mondays as well as Channel J.
