October 2021 News From the Camp Chi Family

Around this time of the year, we love looking back and reflecting on the summer. But the Chi Family is making that difficult for us right now because we’re so busy focusing on all the great accomplishments coming from everyone. So, we’ll take a moment away from daydreaming of camp to give you the October News from the Chi Family, filled with so many reasons to celebrate. Have news we can share and celebrate together? Kyle Kolling, one of our Assistant Directors, was recently awarded the Samuel A. Goldsmith Award from the JUF. The award recognizes Kyle’s outstanding work as a young professional at a Jewish Agency, and how he is shaping the Jewish Community in Chicago. We know this is only the beginning of Kyle’s impact and can’t wait to see what he’ll continue to do in the future. Congrats Kyle!
Another year-round staff member, one of our Maintenance Team, Dan Gray just became a grandfather! We can’t wait to meet little Eleanor June Spohn soon!
Continuing with our staff, Zach Klein, the Assistant Water Ski Supervisor this past summer, got an impressive engineering internship with Malibu Boats! Zach will be moving to Tennessee for a whole year to work with the company. We know you’ll do great out there, Zach!
As if one Klein sibling getting a great internship wasn’t enough, Carly Klein recently got an internship with the Youth Justice Network as a Creative Arts Therapy Intern. This moves Carly one step closer in working towards her career as an Art Therapist. Congrats!
Speaking of art, Molly Jacobs has made the move to Minnesota to become an Elementary Art Teacher. Best of luck to you, Molly!
Ian Doniger is going to be part of the Disney College Program. Ian’s experience spreading Camp Chi Magic sure will come in handy over at Disney!
Down in Champaign-Urbana, Haley Bauman is now an Illini Ice Girl. Congrats, Haley! See you out on the ice!
Molly Yeh, one of our most culinarily talented alumni, is continuing on her awesome work in the culinary world, and was the Guest Editor for the October Food Network Magazine! We’re sure there’s some delicious, fun reads in there.
Not just is the change of seasons in the air, but so is love as we have had a spree of engagements in the Camp Chi Family, and we have many happy couples to congratulate! Join us in sending warm wishes to Alon Krasnitsky & Hen Idan, Zach Mekler & Anna Dworsky, Chloe Connett & Marcus Brooks, Jeremy Hults & Lindsey Antman, and Martin Dermek & Barbora Fraňková.
Speaking of love, two camp couples just tied the knot. We are so happy for Zach Auerbach & Rachel Blitt and Josh Mintzer & Melanie Levy on their recent weddings. A lifetime of happiness to all of you!
With the high holidays behind us, B’nai Mitzvot have been in full swing. Kenny Weisner, Joseph Berkeley, Ella Singer, Sunney Robbins, Levi Schwartz and Benji Robbins were all recently called to the Torah. Mazel Tov to everyone!
Camp Chi has some amazing teens who are doing great work out in the world. We’d like to recognize five of them who were recently elected as JUF Springboard Ambassadors: Alexa Turner, Caitlyn Altenberg, Hannah Dalinka, Simone Redensky, and Tess Adelstein. We’re so impressed by all of you!
Drivers out there can expect to see Benji Kantor behind the wheel, as he just got his driver’s license. Safe driving out there, Benji!
