PNW Pro Advice

By Camp Chi
Camp

The Pacific Northwest trip is a once in a lifetime adventure for 9th and 10th graders! It’s one of the trips that everyone looks forward to throughout their years at Camp Chi. Campers on PNW spend 5 weeks hiking and backpacking throughout the Pacific Northwest. Some of the Highlights include Surfing in the ocean, hiking in the Badlands, and visiting amazing national parks, such as Yellow Stone!

In February, we had our 2017 PNW Reunion, and the campers could not stop talking about all of the amazing things that they had done last summer. They also had a couple words of wisdom that they wanted to share with all of next year’s PNW Campers! They wanted to let everyone know:

  • Follow the packing list; you will not use everything you bring otherwise.
  • Don’t worry, you get used to sleeping in tents really quickly.
  • Hygiene is important!
  • Value the hikes; they will be some your best memories!
  • Stay hydrated; make sure you bring good water bottles/camelbacks!
  • All purpose shorts will be your best friend.
  • Get to know your bus driver- they are a huge part of your trip.
  • Don’t spend all your money on food, you will regret it (and have no souvenirs from the experience).
  • Take lots of pictures! And not just scenery- be sure to get ones with you and your friends in them too.
  • Journal, you’ll want to remember everything that happens.

We will cover all of this and more at the upcoming April 23 PNW Orientation, so be sure to RSVP today!
