SEPTEMBER 2021 NEWS FROM THE CAMP CHI FAMILY
It’s been a little while since we’ve posted our News from the Chi Family. We’ve been busy having the summer of a lifetime at camp, but now that we’re back and settled we’re ready to share all the amazing things that have been happening in the Chi community. Have news we can share and celebrate together? Submit it here
There have been some recent additions to the Chi Family. We’d like to congratulate Leah Solomon and Eric Solomon as they welcomed Samuel Jay, Daniel Horvàth and Vivien Horvàth as they welcomed baby Henrik Levente Horvàth, and Steph Hunter & Jordan Eslevsky welcomed Rose Alivia. We can’t wait to meet them all at camp one day!
We also have several exciting engagements to announce! Mason “Moose” Moore was recently engaged to Lauren Seggebruch, and it was great to see the two of them at camp over the summer. A Mazel Tov is also in order for Emily Rodheim for her and Daniel Charous’s engagement, and to Ella Wright and Ben Conway on their’s as well! No longer engaged, but now married, we are wishing a lifetime of love to newlyweds Jasmine Howard and Jack Sharp!
You might have seen a familiar face this summer as Stephanie Rosenbaum was a contestant on the ABC channel game show The Chase in July. We can’t spoil it, so you’ll have to check it out to see how she did.
We are so proud of Jayden Fogel who was accepted as one of this year’s Moving Traditions Kol Koleinu fellows! As a Midwest Fellow, Jayden will take part in a yearlong teen feminist fellowship that brings together teens to learn about gender analysis, feminism and social change, to use their expertise to teach their peers, and to complete projects that share their learning and leadership with their greater Jewish communities.
There have been many B’nai Mitvot in the Chi Family recently, and we’d like to give a big shout out to everyone. Congrats to Jordan Blaustein, Shiloh Gordon, Sydney Kleiman, Josh Berlow, and Ethan Turkel! Alex Gadiel also recently had his Bar Mitzvah and borrowed the Camp Chi Torah to have the simcha in his family’s back yard. While we couldn’t be there, we were very happy to have been a part of it!
A round of applause is in order for Sam Geyer and Peyton Coslow, as they both recently received their drivers’ licenses! Safe driving out there!
Camp Chi Alum Lee Gruen and Jessica Leving Siegel have been named to the tenth annual “Double Chai in the Chi: 36 Under 36” list of young Jewish movers and shakers in Chicago who are making major contributions through their work, in their free time, and in the Jewish community and beyond.
Jake Bauman, our Rockstars Specialist over the summer, made the IU Drum Line. Based on his performance this summer, we know Jake is going to smash this opportunity. Congrats!
We are beaming with pride as Miles Evans was selected as a recipient of the 2021 Adams and Giannou Community Involvement Scholarship from National Down Syndrome Society in recognition of his years of enriching the lives of others through community service in his hometown of Glen Ellyn and beyond. Way to go Miles!
And finally, a huge amount of respect for Sergeant Mike Katzenstein, who recently retired from the Vernon Hills Police Department. Thank you for your service!
