News from the Chi Family

Can you believe we have not posted any Chi Family News since June?  In those 3 months while we were away at camp, so much happened! We had an unforgettable summer and we can’t wait to fill you in on all the things to celebrate with the Camp Chi Family! Without further ado, here’s the September News from the Camp Chi Family.

The annual JUF Young Leadership Division and Oy!Chicago 36 Under 36 list was released over the summer, and we had three members of the Chi family get recognized as young professionals making major contributions through their work, in their free time, and in the Jewish community and beyond. Mazel tov to Sam Isenstein, Avi Lesser and Karen Klass on making this impressive list!

The roads are getting more crowded as Zach Orhn, Ryan Kellie, and Grace Kellie all got their driver’s licenses this summer. Drive safely everyone!

Need some body-positive music for the kiddos? Check out the new web-series Miss Tutti and the Fruity Band. It features one of our favorite musicians- Emma Jayne!

We want to wish Isabella Allen all the best as she begins her college career at Michigan State University this fall!

It’s been a busy b’nai mitzvah season already as Parker Lewis, Talia Bahar, and Sasha Aronson all had their bar and bat mitzvot in the month since camp ended. And just before camp began Livya Sharp and her family celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in Israel. Mazel tov to each and every one of you!

We are so proud of Lauren Goodsnyder for receiving the Outstanding New Member Award from Sigma Delta Tau for her work at the University of Illinois chapter.

2019 may have been the summer of love, with the number of engagements and weddings we have to announce.

Levy and Josh Mintzer got engaged and celebrated with some of their closest friends, including many Camp Chi legends.

Former office staff rock star, Tia Hunt got engaged to Thomas Britton and are busy planning what will surely be a beautiful wedding.

Speaking of beautiful weddings, Melanie Abramowicz and Seth Pawlow both SITs of 07, got married this summer with many Chi Alumni in attendance.

Another double alumni wedding was held in the UK as Samuel Salisbury and Katharine Godfrey, staff from 2012-14 exchanged vows after meeting at camp and falling in love.

Just a week before his birthday, Zach Berman celebrated his wedding to Lisa Feldmann.

Camp felt a bit empty at times this summer as Christer Norrlof, a Chi driver since 2004 did not return to transport campers and staff. Instead, Christer was enjoying married life in Colombia with his wife Patricia, whom he married last fall. We certainly missed you Christer, but we are so glad you are doing well.

We want to wish all of you a lifetime of love and happiness.

Have news to share?  We want to hear all about it, so be sure to submit it  here.
