SIT Staff 2023
Isaac Hurwitz, Spencer Fleischer, Nicole Perlstein, Hannah Greenspan, and Romina Pliner (Giggles)
We asked them a couple of questions about camp- their favorite part about camp, and their favorite part about SIT Summer! Read their answers below:
Isaac Hurwitz
- My favorite part about camp is using the best of your past camp chi experiences to create new ones, along with the environment that surrounds you as you can be yourself to the fullest extent.
- My favorite part about sit summer are the small moments that are not planned that weave the big moments together.
Spencer Fleischer
- My favorite part about camp chi is the community. Coming together on Fridays for Shabbat as an entire camp and screaming at song session is what brought me back.
- There are so many things about sit summer that make it amazing. The SIT play, placements, growing as a person. But my favorite moment is the volleyball game. The atmosphere of the game is like nothing else I’ve ever seen at camp.
Nicole Perlstein
- My favorite thing to do at camp is sit at the cove listening to music and playing cards with my friends or campers and enjoying the sun.
- My favorite part about SIT summer are the traditions and becoming a true camp Chi family.
Hannah Greenspan
- My favorite thing to do at camp is lose my voice at song session 🙂
- My favorite thing about sit summer is that you finally understand not just that camp is special but why camp is special!!
Romina Pliner (Giggles)
- At camp, my favorite activity has always been song session. There is something about singing together that creates a unique bond between people, and I feel like that’s where everyone really connects with each other. What I love most about song sessions is the sense of community that it creates. Overall, it’s the connections that we make through things like song session that keep me coming back to camp year after year.
- While my SIT experience was very unique compared to previous years, I was amazed at how our SIT class and counselors worked together to make the most of our summer. We were able to adapt to the circumstances and find creative ways to connect and learn, like going to the rocks by Northwestern and stargazing. Our SIT class was very supportive and collaborative, and we always made sure to check in on each other. Despite the limitations, I still learned so much from my SIT summer and most importantly, I made meaningful connections and friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
