After just a day or two into a camp session, cabins become homes and cabin mates feel like family. Each cabin is part of a larger, age-based village. Cabin counselors become cherished mentors and almost all of them grew up attending Camp Chi so they know everything about cabin living and camp traditions.
Cabin groups, made up of approximately 12 campers and 4 staff, are often where campers find their new friends and form the special relationships that can only come from living together. It’s also where campers learn the give and take of sharing, compromise and making decisions with a group. For kids who are used to having their own space at home, this can be big adjustment. Our staff are there every step along the way to guide campers to find social connections, navigate group dynamics and gain interpersonal skills.
