December News from the Camp Chi Family!
What a month it has been for the Camp Chi Family! As we close out the year, there is so much to celebrate in addition to the holidays and upcoming new year. As usual, we have an abundance of items ranging from academic achievements to weddings, competition winners and much more. We have a few more college decisions we are proud to announce as Rachel Rossiello commits to the Ohio State University and Gabi Guon is headed to Northeastern University. And Jared Bukowski will be continuing on with med school after he graduates this spring. We wish all of them endless success.
Sydney Zuckert deserves a standing ovation for her performance in Aladdin Jr. at Century Junior High.
We’ve got some smart cookies at Chi are very proud of Mike Majewski and the Beaubien Bulldogs who placed 2nd at the CJML Math Competition, Division A. Mike also placed individually! We are also filled with pride for Dean Roth who was inducted into the Hebrew Honors Society!
It’s no secret that Maxwell Strauss is a gymnastics beast and his skills are showing again this season as he had his highest scoring meet yet with a 1st place finish in floor and pommel horse and 2nd place all around. And the cherry on top? His team won 1st place too. Way to go Maxwell!
We are so happy for Eli Brook and Taylor Litman on their recent engagement.
Love was in the air as Sam Shapiro (SIT ’08) married Kacie Clardy, and Monica Shifman (SIT ’09) and Maki Pejic tied the knot.
Camp Chi has a lot of family members involved in Greek life on their campuses. We are thrilled for Carli Kanter who was named Public Relations Chair for University of Illinois chapter of Phi Mu. And AEPi at Michigan State just gained a Camp Chi stud in Matt Sturt. We are very happy for both of you!
In case you missed it, The Joffrey Ballet’s The Nutcracker is back and a hit this holiday season, and it is the first time this production is filled with dancers of all abilities. Two young women with cerebral palsy are sharing the role of Worker Girl, with one of them being our own Emma Lookatch!
We are very proud of Jake Bauman for being selected to the 2019-20 All-State Music Ensemble for the Illinois Music Education Association. Keep rocking Jake!
Livya Sharp became bat mitzvah in June in Israel and celebrated with her friends just a few weeks ago over in Indiana, as featured in the photo above. We are proud of her and of our other recent b’nai mitzvot Ronit Radutney, Maya Rubin, Joah Weissman, Shayna Weisman, Isaac Gorovits, and Lily Slutzky, who raised money for Camp Firefly for her mitzvah project. A hearty mazel tov to each of you!
