Garinim – Let’s Plant Some Seeds
Tonight begins Tu B’shevat, the birthday of the trees – a celebration of the rejuvenation of nature and the growth of seeds, flowers and plants.
The tallest tree in camp was once a small sapling, growing each day and is now part of the woodsy landscape of our 600 acres. Similarly, many of our campers have been coming for many years and have grown and developed at camp. But, just like that tree, before they learn to love the place they will call their summer home, we must first plant the seed. The seed of excitement, friendship, appreciated of the outdoors and a love of living Jewishly.
It is in this spirit, that we are excited to announce the name our a new 3rd grade village, Garinim, the Hebrew words for seeds! In Garinim, we will cultivate a love for Camp Chi that our newest campers will experience in summer 2018 before firmly planting their roots (Shoreshim) as life-long members of the camp community. Just like seeds, we will make sure the campers in Garinim get plenty of sunlight (and wear sunscreen) and drink lots of water. We look forward to welcoming our Garinim campers in just a few short months and helping them grow and develop into lifelong campers.
