Mix It Up Monday

Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. And while this summer will be unlike any other, we are excited to offer you some activities to keep the camp vibes alive and well in your house. Our something active this week is also pretty messy, so we’ve combined them into one and added something different this week. Don’t forget to check out the previous Mix It Up Mondays for more activities to keep everyone busy.

Something Tasty: S’mores Dip

We cant get enough s’mores and love seeing recipes for s’mores everything. And then Hayden’s video of indoor s’mores really had us craving s’more! So here is another delicious recipe for oven baked s’mores dip!

Ingredients & Supplies:
-8-9” Skillet
-1 bag milk chocolate chips
-1 bag large marshmallows
-Graham crackers, fruit, cookies, etc. for dipping.

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Pour the chocolate chips into an 8 or 9 inch skillet
3. Bake for 3-4 minutes until chocolate is melted
4. Arrange marshmallows over the top of the chocolate.
5. Bake for 2-3 minutes until marshmallows are browned.
6. Serve immediately with graham crackers, cookies or fruit for dipping!

And in case you missed Hayden’s video, here it is:

Something Active & Messy: Slip n Slide

Here is an awesome activity to get you outside and take advantage of the beautiful weather that seems to be creeping in. Turn on your hose and get out those slip n’ slides! Don’t have a slip n’ slide? No problem! Grab a tarp or two, clean them off, spray them down with water and create your own! For an extra fun twist add some soap and paint and have a blast!

A word to the wise- bring some extra towels to dry off and get the grass off of you before heading back inside.

Something Artsy: Friendship Bracelets

There isn’t a much campier craft than making friendship bracelets. Nothing should stop our campers from filling up their summer camp wrists with colorful bracelets and beads. If you need any help getting started here is a helpful tutorial from Ally below. Also if you want to spread the Camp Chi Magic and participate in Chi Does Good with Chi Town Connection and make a friendship bracelet for our Healthcare Professional Heroes please contact J-Lo jlondon@jccchicago.org.

Something Different: Outdoor Movie Night

Grab your laptops and blankets and head outside for an outdoor movie night! It could be a nice change of pace from your normal movie nights or Netflix sessions. You can create a nice relaxing ambiance with string lights or candles. Or if you have a projector you can even project on the side of your house or a plain bed sheet!
