Skating Through Summer

By Camp Chi

Camp

We’ve already made headlines with the announcements of the new outdoor adventure program and expanding the Israel Village into the Mercaz as well. And now stopping the presses with another announcement of something that will be exciting, new, and cool this summer at Camp Chi! And when we say cool we mean both in terms of temperature and insane amounts of fun. This summer at camp we will be offering ICE SKATING!

And we won’t be going anywhere to do it either. Instead we will convert the commons into a skating central with a synthetic ice skating rink provided by Skate Room entertainment.

What is synthetic ice? Thanks to the newest technology, our synthetic ice skating rink feel 95% like real ice! It’s eco friendly- NO water or electricity is required. The surface of the rink is reactive to the speed of the skater. When a skater glides over the surface, the blades create heat and react with natural oils(lubricants) which are built in the synthetic ice panels. The faster a skater  glides the more lubricant is released which makes the surface more slippery and feels like a traditional ice!

For beginners, synthetic ice is less slippery than the traditional ice because most beginners do not go fast and blades create less heat and produce less lubricant. It builds confidence – because no matter if you are an experienced skater or a novice You Can Do It!

Synthetic ice is eco friendly, ecologically clean, recyclable material, and you can use your regular hockey or figure skates on it (although we will be providing skates for you this summer.) So lace up those skates and get ready for the coolest new activity at Chi this summer!

For more information on the new rink please visit us at www.skateroom.net

NOTE: There are synthetic ice skating rinks on the market of very different qualities. Not all synthetic ice panels can match the top quality panels used at Camp Chi this summer!
