Staying Safe Around the Pool
Better late than never, Spring finally has arrived with warmer weather and sunnier days (with the occasional rain shower and thunderstorm). As we end May, we know that this year “May” has likely been different for many of us, and certainly a story we will be telling our grandkids someday. Normally we are preparing for the upcoming summer and celebrating the warmer weather after a seemingly never-ending winter. If there is one thing this quarantine has taught us, it is the importance of safety. At Camp Chi, that is something we always have made our number one priority. We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight that May is National Water Safety Month. And while we may not be in the camp pools or lakes this summer, we want to emphasize the importance educating others on safety procedures in and near the water.
As many of us spend our summers soaking in the sun and relaxing by the pool, we wanted to make sure our families are properly equipped to keep themselves safe this summer. While incredibly fun and quite refreshing, without proper safety procedures, pools can really be dangerous. In honor of national water safety month, the Red Cross is offering a FREE water safety class for parents and care givers. Please note you will have to enter a credit card, but nothing will be charged.
Here are some of the skills you will learn:
- Circle of drowning prevention
- Water competency
- Rules of safety
- Supervision in and near the water
- Chain of drowning survival
We suggest everyone take advantage of the limited time offer and keep swimming fun and safe for everyone.
